The business.
The broader picture.

Insurance brings together several distinct businesses, each with its own economics and capital requirements.

01

Operating businesses

Underwriting, distribution, claims and premium finance play different roles within an insurance group. Understanding those relationships is central to understanding the business.

02

Capital & ownership

Capital requirements, ownership, governance and the intended use of funds shape how a business opportunity is presented and evaluated.

03

Growth & execution

Retail distribution, specialty programs and related services may offer different paths for growth. Each requires a clear view of the people, operating capabilities and assumptions involved.

EXISTING INSURANCE CARRIER BUSINESS

An example of
the work.

Grise’s work with an existing insurance carrier business provides context for Jamie’s focus on insurance and investor relationships.

The work includes distinguishing the existing carrier business from potential growth in retail distribution, specialty programs and related services; coordinating management information; and organizing questions about capital, governance and execution.

This description concerns advisory work in progress. It does not describe a completed financing or an investment outcome.

L’Éminence grise.

Jean-Léon Gérôme’s painting is the visual inspiration for this site. Its quiet central figure, architectural lines and contrast of gray and red inform the design.
